The homes in Lake Sarasota are of two types. The vast majority of the homes were built between 1970 and 1999. These are generally considered to be “established” but still very pleasantly viable family homes. Over eighty-five percent of the homes were built in this time period, but most of the remainder were built after 2000. This has given Lake Sarasota an often charming appearance. 

The median price of a home in Lake Sarasota is $212,000. Most of the homes there are medium to large in size. Lake Sarasota is a mostly family neighborhood. The average age of residents in Lake Sarasota is thirty-seven, although a small percentage of residents are retirees. 

Lake Sarasota is very nice community in which to live. The crime rate is low and homes are affordable. Over seventy-five percent of homes in Lake Sarasota are owner-occupied. Schools are very good in Sarasota in general. About 98% of high school students graduate. 

Sarasota has a wide variety of things to do for everyone in the family. Of course, there are the world-famous white sand beaches as well as all of the fun activities the Gulf of Mexico provides. 

For adults the city is a cultural mecca, with a number of museums, theaters, as well as the Sarasota Symphony and Sarasota Opera. There are many art galleries, art walks, musical events and a ten-day film festival. Sarasota’s downtown is home to dozens of wonderful stores offering great shopping as well as restaurants and more.

Children in Sarasota have not only the benefit of great schools but also great venues for play and learning. These include the Mote Aquarium, the Sarasota Children’s garden, and a special children’s play space at the famous Ringling Museum. 

For adults Sarasota offers golf at nearly thirty courses around the city, boating, water-skiing, and numerous other sports activities.
