Venice is dotted with about 11 golf courses, and Sarasota has 29 courses, so tee times are available. The outdoor pools in the community are heated when necessary which makes them accessible nearly year-round. There is also an indoor fitness center for serious muscle-toning. If cooking is out of the question after all of that activity, dine at the clubhouse and relax. 

Sarasota, on Venice's northern border, is an arts haven with a professional symphony, an art museum and numerous galleries, and a ballet company known nationally and internationally. Festivals seem to pop up on a regular basis, and auto shows and farm markets fill in the gaps. There is at least one festival every month in Sarasota County, and Venice has its own Shark's Tooth Festival in early April. There are shark teeth lying around on the beaches of Venice for anyone who finds them. 

The Gulf of Mexico has graced the beaches in this area with lovely, fine, white sand and warm, calm waters. Imagine living as close as a short drive to one of the nicest beaches on the East coast. Water sports galore are also part of beach life here, so let the kids wear themselves out. Work off calories from the great restaurant food available in this area as well. 

Many Florida visitors and residents make certain that they can dine at the Columbia Restaurant as often as possible. It is in St. Armands Circle on Lido Key, just across the bridge from Sarasota, and it is a wonderful experience. The shopping in St. Armands Circle is also enjoyable with a variety of stores. 

Fresh seafood all year, outdoor sports, great weather and lovely beaches are available in Venice, FL, now. Ecotours and other environmental interests are part of the community here, too, so explore our town for these activities. Arts and crafts are everywhere, and lessons for creating can be found along with shops and festivals devoted to them.
