The surrounding region includes numerous attractions and amenities. The beaches of neighboring Venice, along the Gulf of Mexico, are noted for the number of shark teeth that have been found on them. Celebrating this, Venice hosts the annual Shark's Tooth Festival, in which vendors sell shark teeth and other fossils, as well as artwork. The festival also includes food and live entertainment. The festival refers to Venice as the "Shark's Tooth Capital of the World."

Even when the festival is not happening, Venice is known as a beautiful beach town. The architecture and layout of the town's historic district is reminiscent of the world-famous Italian city for which it is named. The town's Broward Paw Park is a beach specifically intended for dogs. In addition, the Venetian Waterway Park consists of a pair of paths for walking and biking on either side of the Intracoastal Waterway between downtown Venice and the Gulf of Mexico. Combined, the two paths are over nine miles in length, offering scenic views of the water throughout. Venice also contains the Venice Theatre, one of the largest community theaters in the United States. After more than six decades in operation, the theater performs a range of shows, from contemporary plays to family-friendly material.

Additional points of interest in the region include the Tampa Bay Metropolitan Area, including the city of Tampa some seventy miles to the north. The metropolitan area, a region containing over four million residents, is full of world-class facilities. A number of museums, such as the Museum of Fine Arts and the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg and the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa, are located in the region. The Tampa Bay area also contains amusement parks such as Busch Gardens and Adventure Island, as well as a zoo and an aquarium. More broadly, the location of Venice Gardens in central Florida puts it within a few hours' drive of noted tourist destinations like Orlando, Miami and Daytona Beach.
